| Abstract | This article aims to reflect the situation of terminally ill patients with incurable or vegetative conditions in the process of choosing the limits of the prolongation of life. It was found that legal rules should serve society according to the historical, cultural and scientific context, following the principle of autonomy of the will. Therefore, the need for constant debate with society remains, aiming at updating the Brazilian legal system regarding the analysis and adequate application, in the judicial or legislative scope, of euthanasia and assisted suicide. |
