| Abstract | This research work deals with the experience of the Association of Tourism Guides of La Macarena, Meta, (UNIGMA in Spanish) under the methodology of applied research in the typology of experiences systematization. There, the scarcity of labor opportunities and the imaginary of economic development of the extractive economy, present the municipality as a favorable scenario for corporations that extract natural resources indiscriminately, leaving negative consequences for the municipality, affecting the environmental wealth of the territory. The objective of this research is to systematize the UNIGMA experience based on the experiences of the actors that represent it and their interaction with the inhabitants and institutions, boosting the local economy, promoting sustainable tourism through the training of guides and their function of environmental protection and the creation of a productive chain that benefits many families in the sector by providing services such as lodging and food. In conclusion, through initiatives such as UNIGMA it is possible to renew the economic culture and preserve natural resources while improving the quality of life in the municipality, but this requires the collaboration of the public and private sectors. |
