| Abstract | The objective of the study was to determine the frequency of human papilloma virus (HPV) genotypes and other factors associated with their detection in military men from Lima, Peru using the real-time polymerase chain reaction. The study was of observational, descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional type. As a data collection instrument, a survey and genital sampling were used. The valid sampling consisted of 44 military men who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. For processing and analysis, Microsoft Excel v.2013 and SPSS v.23 were used. Finding that 20/44 (45.5%) of the valid samples, from 18 to 25 years old, were detecting HPV. The frequency of HPV infection in the participants was 55% and 45% between monoinfections and total coinfections respectively. Among cases of coinfections, 9 of 14 HPV-AR genotypes were found, including genotypes 16, 66 and 58, which were the most frequent. The study could not relate social factors and sexual behaviors with HPV detection significantly (x, p <0.05). The age of 20 to 21 years and relationships with prostitutes showed significance with 95% confidence of having a multiple infection that simple. |
