| Abstract | As percepcoes dos professores acerca dos esforcos de melhoria da escola sao um indicador importante para a monitorizacao e avaliacao dos mesmos. Por isso, a existencia de instrumentos de avaliacao desta dimensao com caracteristicas psicometricas adequadas e de grande relevância. O objectivo deste estudo foi avaliar as caracteristicas psicometricas da versao portuguesa do School Improvement Teacher Survey (SITS; Leitwood e col., 2006), o inventario da Percepcao dos Professores acerca da Melhoria da Escola (IPPME). Participaram neste estudo 472 professores de agrupamentos de escolas de tres municipios do Norte de Portugal. Foram encontrados 3 factores na versao portuguesa do School Improvement Teacher Survey. Ao nivel da fidelidade, todas as escalas apresentam valores de alpha de Cronbach acima de .82 (entre .82 e .95) valores consistentes com os da versao original. Os resultados deste estudo sugerem que a versao Portuguesa do instrumento apresenta caracteristicas psicometricas adequadas para a avaliacao das percepcoes dos professores acerca dos esforcos de melhoria. Teachers’ perceptions about school improvement efforts are important indicators for monitoring and evaluation of improvement efforts. Therefore, the existence of evaluation instruments for the assessment of teachers’ perceptions of school improvement instruments are of great importance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Portuguese version of the School Improvement Teacher Survey (SITS; Leitwood, et al., 2006). The study had the participation of 472 teachers, from three municipalities of the North of Portugal. In the Portuguese version of the School Improvement Teacher Survey three factors were found. Regarding fidelity, all scales have Cronbach’s alpha values above .82 (between .820 and .954), which are consistent with those of the original version. The results of this study suggest that the Portuguese version of the instrument presents adequate psychometric characteristics for its use in assessing teachers’ perceptions about school improvement efforts in the Portuguese population.
