| Abstract | Este trabalho tem o objetivo de evidenciar os sentimentos e percepcoes dos academicos e profissionais de enfermagem frente ao processo de morte e morrer. Trata-se de uma revisao integrativa da literatura cientifica nacional, realizada com artigos publicados nos periodicos da Base de Dados de Enfermagem, SciELO e Lilacs no periodo de 2000 a 2013 na lingua portuguesa. Os resultados perpassam pela conceituacao de morte na visao dos profissionais de enfermagem, onde ha a presenca dos elementos espirituais e religiosos; alem disso, sao expressos os sentimentos de medo, culpa, fracasso e negacao dos profissionais em relacao ao processo de morrer e morrer; as situacoes agravantes que acentuam a culpa e a tristeza dos ultimos; como eles lidam com esses sentimento, como foi visualizado a negacao e qual e a problematica desse processo. Abstract: In order to explore the universe of violence dynamics against the elderly, this study aimed to conduct a meta-synthesis research about qualitative scientific articles from the last 20 years about the profile of the aggressor and the abused elderly as well as the conceptions that older people have about abuse. This study was initiated by the search for articles published in journals indexed in the databases LILACS, SciELO, PubMed and PsycINFO accessed in 2015. The descriptors chosen to conduct the search in LILACS and SciELO were "elder mistreatment" and in PubMed and PsycINFO databases were "elder abuse". Among all the databases 2523 articles were found. After using the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 8 articles were selected. It was found that qualitative research on the topic of violence against the elderly are scarce both in national and international literature, especially when compared to quantitative research. Some issues are worth mentioning because they are different than generally is found in literature. One of these concerns men, who get more likely to suffer some form of violence when they become widowers. Another relevant point is the issue of culture influence on violence normalization, which is present in the daily lives of everybody through disrespect and devaluation of the elderly, once they are considered inefficient and unnecessary to society.
