EnglishThe aim of this study was to account for regional differences in entrepreneurial activity between Mexico, Spain and Portugal from the own self-reinforcing nature of entrepreneurship, through mechanisms of social learning. It was hypothesised that the country of residence, as indicative variable of the level of exposure to entrepreneurial role models, would predict entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intentions of young people involved in career decisions. Self-reported data was collected from 377 participants from the three countries. MANOVA and regression analyses showed greater levels of self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intentions in Mexican students in comparison to Spanish and Portuguese, and that the country of residence affected entrepreneurial intentions by the mediating role of selfefficacy beliefs. Those results have important implications to foster entrepreneurship in young people. |
