Abstract	In this paper, we aim to have a look at some of the landmarks in the history of literary relationships between Spain and Portugal, from the XIX century on, in order to provide an overview of the perspectives that prevail over that literary approach. We examine the identity tensions stemming from the efforts of those authors who, in Spain, were concerned and interested in Portugal and those who in Portugal felt the same about Spain.
