| Abstract | The present research proposes a wireless sensor network design through the performance evaluation of the Arduino and Waspmote platforms under the ZigBee communication protocol for the monitoring and control of the Agoyan and Pisayambo reservoirs from CELEC EP (Corporacion Electrica del Ecuador Empresa Publica), Unidad de Negocio Hidroagoyan, located in the province of Tungurahua, Banos canton. The analytic method is applied to evaluate: hardware, availability, range, energy consumption, though evaluation by scales to prototypes developed with the same characteristics, as well as the compilation of information techniques such as: interview, observation and comparison. For developing this project some materials were used: Hardware: computer, Arduino, Waspmote boards, Xbee modules, sensors, accessories; Software: XCTU 6.0, Arduino IDE, Waspmote PRO IDE, PostgreSQL 9.2, NetBeans 7.2.1, PHP, HTML and CentOS 6.4 Operating system. With the result obtained the following data are generated: as hardware, availability, energy consumption, range, processing and transmitting, both for Arduino and Waspmote are presented an average from 1.458 and 2.542 respectively, obtaining a big advantage over Arduino, moreover the prices are evaluated, distribution channels, information, application and existence of components and accessories for RSI. According to the requirements for monitoring and control of the reservoirs it is considered the Waspmote platform as the suitable to design the wireless sensor network. A wireless sensor network proposal is developed under the Waspmote platform for monitoring and control of the Agoyan and Pisayambo reservoirs based on optimizing the technical economical requirements. It is recommended to Unidad de Negocio Hidroagoyan department of engineering implement the solution under the criteria exposed in the present research project. |
