Customer satisfaction is the key to the survival of a company and, in the market of wood for civil construction, one of the requirements of customers is the immediate delivery. The Baggio Timber Industry Ltd., located in the municipality of Jumirim Sao Paulo, produces to replenish the consumed stock, having a value of regular stock that has not been defined by judicious numerical analysis, but only by the personal judgment of one of the directors of the company. Analyzing the data provided by the company, an oversizing problem of the stock of wood for civil construction was identified. This thesis presents a proposal of Production Planning and Inventory Management for the company in question. At the end of this thesis, the expected economic results are presented, including a reduction of 33.79% of stock expenses and 42.07% of production expenses within one year. An Inventory Management which was based on demand forecast, along with its respective safety stock, reduces the stocked amount of finished products maintaining a good level of service. Besides lowering costs, the reduction of inventory has advantages as the increase of liquidity, release of space (warehouses, factories, etc.) and personal (manipulation, control), facilitation of operations and better visualization of inefficiencies.
