| Abstract | Self heating tests under cyclic loadings have been carried out on puddle iron specimens (end of XIX th century) in order to determine the fatigue properties of thi s material. Since its inclusions ratio is very high (inclusions have a high phosphorus level) and their distributio n s heterogeneous in the ferritic matrix, the ques tion of the definition of a REV (representative elementary volume) arises. The self-heating measurements scatt er is analysed with small cross section specimens. The me an fatigue limit can be estimated. We use a two-sca le probabilistic model in which the yield stress of ea ch site where the microplasticity takes place is re presented by a Weibull law.
