| Abstract | To estimate the prevalence of Common Mental Disorders (CMD) and the use of psychotropic drugs in women attending the primary health care. Cross-sectional study using the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) in women attending the Basic Health System, Minas Gerais, 2013. In this study, 360 women were interviewed. The prevalence of CMD was 41.7% (95%CI 36.6-46.8). The variables that were associated with the presence of CMD in the logistic regression model were: psychiatric care (OR=5.40; 95%CI 2.44-11.92), use of alcohol (OR=5.97; 95%CI 2.31-15.42) and domestic violence report (OR=7.15; 95%CI 1.80-28.35). About 30% of women used psychotropic drugs. The high prevalence of CMD and the use of psychotropic drugs confirm the importance of knowledge of this subject by health professionals. |
