| Abstract | This research was performed working closely with the public servant from a hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. They became noticed because the high level of organization during the struggle against the austerity agenda undertaken by the actual RS governor. Therefore, we search for the understanding of the political participation performed by these workers, which was unusual in the actual reflux of social struggle scenario. Objectives: Our objectives are to understand the factors that influence the political participation of the public servants; to examine the main reasons for public servants political commitment; to discover the repercussion of this participation in the servant's interpersonal relationship in daily routine at work. Methodology: We performed a field research of qualitative approach with an exploratory objective. Fourteen stable public servant, from the hospital, recognized by their action in the movement, were interviewed. The instrument for data collection was the semistructured interview. The participants were select using a no-probabilistic method, the "snow ball" technique. This technique consist in use the recommendation giving by a subject to choose the next interviewed. In order to do that, the next subject must, at least, fulfill one of following requirements: it must had participated unions meetings or strikes and/or it must have gathering skills for the mobilization of fellow workers. Results: The following motivational factors were determined: the defense of public servant working rights, the defense of public service and its quality, and also of hospital users. The latter was recognized as fragile among their interests defense. Major part of the interviewed believe that political participation, as long as organized and critical, could influence on government decisions. Finally, all interviewed state that their political activities concerns in interpersonal relations at work, either in strengthening their solidarity bonds between fellow workers and overcoming invisibility, either as intensifying hostiles actions by the managers. Conclusions: The political participation of public servants from hospital, mediated either by union either by colleagues collectives inside the institution, is an important factor for the overcome of isolation and invisibility in work environment, because articulated interpersonal relationships based on solidarity and on the recognition of the other, setting as a resistant strategy of workers to the advancing precarization of work in public services. |
