Abstract	This text tries to perform an analysis of rural settlements implanted in Minas Gerais in the period 19852007 from the Banco de Dados da Luta pela Terra Minas Gerais (DATALUTA). This project systematize the rural settlements created in each government in the period since Sarney (1986) until the first year of Lula's second term (2007). The project DATALUTA constitutes in an attempt to quantify the basic data of the Brazilian agrarian question and land occupations, settlements, land structure and movements socioterritoriais involved in the struggle for land and then disseminate them primarily through annual reports, online news and database. As a methodology for registration of rural settlements and also the number of families settled, the project has as primary sources DATALUTA the Instituto Nacional de Colonizacao e Reforma Agraria (INCRA) and the Associacao Nacional de Orgaos Estaduais de Terra (ANOTER). After data analysis is performed a confrontation of them in a way to seek all settlements established and to identify possible duplication thus forming a more complete basis. So through a diagnosis of national agrarian reform and its impact on the creation of rural settlements in the State of Minas Gerais and its spatialization within mineiro can establish perspectives and challenges faced by
