| Abstract | This paper presents the results obtained af ter developing and validating the Body Image Questionnaire with a sample of 395 persons be longing to clinical or general population. The instrument allows assessing probable eating di sorders related to bulimia, anorexia, obesity, ort horexia, and bigorexia. All the factors and total scale showed good internal consistency. Factor analysis confirmed the multidimensionality of the scale and therefore, its construct validity. The results of the instrument implementation suggest that the existence of personal or family history related to these disorders or to anxiety or depression, increase the likelihood of develo ping eating disorders. This is consistent with the literature and supports the experimental va lidity of the measure. |
