| Abstract | For the present work we have tried to identify and describe the potential rock sources available for human use and which are part of the landscape in an area of the central plateau of the Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. Our objective is to use a new methodology that will allow us to quantify these sources (Simpson's method of ordinates) and to establish their representativeness in the landscape. By knowing the total availability of each rock type in the region we can then discuss aspects related to the variability of the environmental constrains and the choices made by prehistoric societies. In the present case we compare lithic materials from stratigraphic excavations performed at the AEP-1 archaeological site at Piedra Museo, Santa Cruz, Argentina. |
