| Abstract | The following investigation pretends to value the clinical response in the articular function and pain in the patients with osteoarthritis of the knee as an alternative nonsurgical therapeutic with the use of collagen-polyvinylpyrrolidone. A clinical cuasiexperimental, comparative, longitudinal, prospective, and cause-effect study was performed. Seventyfi ve external consultation with a diagnose of osteoarthritis of the knee stage II and III were chosen, therefore 71 being evaluated (26 men and 45 women); 28.2% have a II degree and 71.8% a III degree; evaluated through the EVA pain scale, initial and fi nal base after 3 months, with a p = 0.0001, and a multi functional Lattinen scale with an improvement in the initial base with a p = 0.0001, same as the mobility arcs; for the fl exion with a medium difference in degrees from 18.66°, 8.24 before and after. The function of the knee was compared with the Steinbrocker base scale and in 3 months fi nding a better functionality in the patients that had be previously limited up to 77.5% up to a normal performance. The application consisted of 6 weekly dose of collagen-polyvinylpyrrolidone. The results show that the use of collagenpolyvinylpyrrolidone to an articular space as an alternative therapy to patients with stage II and III osteoarthritis of the knee, generates a positive therapeutic response in the knee’s articular function, and the antiinfl ammatory effect demonstrates a functional and sympRESUMEN |
