| Abstract | In this work, we used femtoand nanosecond lasers to produce micron-sized particles of beclomethasone dipropionate (BDP) in water. Laser-micronized BDP particles were compared with BDP particles micronized by traditional milling methods in terms of particle size, degradation and physicochemical properties. The results showed that chemical degradation and partial amorphization might be induced during laser process, but these effects are reasonable and are similar compared to the standard methods. Laser micronization is thus a suitable tool for pharmaceutical R&D, especially for pulmonary drug discovery. |
