| Abstract | This paper analyzes the opportunities and challenges arising from the Global Value Chains (GVCs) for the international integration of developing countries and is divided into three parts. The first introduces the concept of GVCs. The second part presents the participation of developing countries in GVCs and finally examines some political challenges ahead for this group of countries. We conclude that the effective participation of the firms in GVCs requires an integrated set of policies and measures to promote their attractiveness. Policies related to the development of productive capacity and the business environment are contributing to the increased participation of developing countries in GVCs. |
