| Abstract | Recently, as the standard of living went up, the demand of customers got upgraded and diversified. With this, there have been active studies on the capacity expansion, low vibration and low noise of washing machine. The washing machines used in the world can be largely classified according to the washing method as follows: the drumtype which is widely used in Europe; the agitator-type used in America; the pulsator-type used in East Asia such as Korea and Japan. If classified in the view point of vibration system, they can be classified as the horizontal-axis type and the vertical-axis type according to the rotational axis of the washing machine. Here, the drum type is the horizontal-axis type, while the agitator-type and the pulsator-type are the vertical-axis type. Among them, the drumtype washing machine has the advantage that the damage of laundry is small and the use of water is so little that the energy can be saved much. Recently, as the capacity of the drum-type washing machine gets expanded and its washing performance is improved, its market share is increasing in the whole world. While the washing capacity gets increased, the weight of machine gets lighter to reduce the raw material cost. Furthermore, the spin speed is also increasing to enhance the energy efficiency. With these, its vibration problem becomes gradually grave. To solve this vibration problem, companies have used some passive measures to heighten the moment of inertia by attaching the counter weight to the tub or to increase the number of springs and Dynamic Modeling and Analysis of Drum-type Washing Machine |
