| Abstract | In this paper, we consider a video transmission system based on Wyner-Ziv coding. Unlike previous works that considered error-free transmission of the encoded data, we study the influence of noise on the system performances. We also present a novel approach for estimating the theoretical compression bound of each video frame based on the amount of motion inside the frame and on the channel conditions. Furthermore, we show how the entropy limits can be used for estimating the optimal amount of information to be transmitted per frame, in case of a broadcasting application where feedback information from the receiver is not available. Simulation results show a small degradation in the system rate-distortion performance, compared to the case of a source- channel coding system with a feedback channel. |
