| Abstract | For a good characterization of friction during the metal forming processes, it is necessary to use fri ction tests which can reproduce the real contact conditions. Th e authors propose the optimal design of an extrusio n die in order to perform a more correct identification o f the friction phenomena during the extrusion proce ss using an Inverse Analysis approach. Tests on a classic tr ibometer will also be used, as well as subsequent experimental analysis of the surface of the specime n, to give a better explanation of the contact phenome na.
