| Abstract | Various studies have shown that readers are able to infer emotions implied in a text, and that factors such as the valence (positive and negative) are influences in information processing (e.g., Gygax, Garnham & Oakhill, 2004; Gygax, Tapiero & Carruzzo, 2007). Using a lexical decision task and 88 short texts, we analyzed the moment in which emotional inferences with regard to emotional valence are activated. The results suggest that the positive valence is processed more quickly than the negative valence. |
