| Abstract | 1. Introduction The problems of MIMD parallel computers relate both to software and hardware. On software, if processors share data, synchronization operations must be described in the program. The need of synchronization makes programming of MIMD parallel computers much more difficult than that of sequential computers. Another problem is that the overhead of communication increases proportional to the number of processors. If data distribution among processors is not suitable, the performance degradation caused by communication overhead is quite serious. The purpose of this research is to solve the above problems by adopting a new functional language model and making a new architecture based on the model. |
