| Abstract | The radiographic micronodular image in the pediatric population is generally seen as a common finding related to tuberculous etiology, but has also been described as pulmonary spread of some extrathoracic malignant tumors, including melanoma and thyroid neoplasias. Thyroid carcinoma is sometimes diagnosed due to a radiological finding of metastatic lung lesions, which often appear as a bilateral micronodular pattern similar to that caused by miliary tuberculosis. Although this is common in adult cases, in children is uncommon. A case of a 9 years old female patient who was referred to the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases Ismael Cosio Villegas with a diagnosis of refractory asthma is presented. She had a 3 months history of dyspnea, odinophagia and wheezings that had been unsuccessfully treated with anti-inflammatory drugs. In our institute we made a syndromic approach based on the radiographic image, and a papillary thyroid adenocarcinoma was found in the biopsy of a cervical node. In the present report, a review of similar cases published in the literature was made. RESUMEN |
