| Abstract | SUMMARY The Mousterian lithic industry from La Flecha cave comes mainly from small quartzite pebbles extracted from a conglomerate deposit a few kilometres away from the cave. The original size of the raw material, makes non-profitable its primary flaking hence a direct knapping, unidirectional in the largest degree, has to be applied. As a result, a large quantity of pieces produced bear traces of the cortex, some of them were selected for sidescrapers. We find in this site an example of adaptation to previous conditions of the raw material and, at the same time, an optimum method to economize on cores. |
