| Abstract | This paper proposes an overview of History and Cinema and provides a teaching guide for using film in a classroom context, based on a specific analysis of the Middle Ages in cinema. It is aimed at students and history teachers wishing to enhance their perception and knowledge of film. Therefore, we consider it essential to include some basic knowledge of cinematic language, the role of genres in the history of cinema, the contribution of epic and historical films, and finally, an indepth examination of the recurring themes and most frequently features characters of the Medieval period that the film industry has portrayed in celluloid.
