| Abstract | With the european colonization it was established the first human settlement in Northeast region of Brazil. These settlements have in the sugarcane the main support of its economies. During centuries the sugarcane sustained the Northeast in a highlighted position in the national economic scenario. However, in the beginnings of the 21st century, with Brazil's industrialization, the Northeast region lost its importance. Thus, soon has been realized that the main resource to raise the northeaster's economy was its own territory, more specifically the touristic use of the coast. In this context, the policies of development have been development in a way to facilitate the deployment of hotels, like the resorts hotels. This paper aims to analyses the consequences of this model for sustainable development process. The methodology employed in this paper has used the theory of the territory and territoriality to analyze the logic underlying the model resorts. As conclusion, it is showed the resort hotel model not contributes for local sustainability, mainly because prevents the stakeholder's participation in the process of planning and management of tourism. |
