Abstract	Malaysia polygamous marriages in Muslim societies often obtain attention and various reactions from the community. Communities can be positive with the practices of polygamy if they understand the concept of polygamy with good communication in the family. This study focuses on way of communication the Jurnal 'Ulwan 'Ulwan's Journal Jilid 1 2018 : 146-159 147 maintenance of living in polygamous family according to the perspective of the Shafii sect. For this study, the qualitative approach was used to explore the polygamous marriages in Malaysia. In-depth interviews were conducted on 10 women between the ages of 20 and 45 years old who became the first, second and third wife selected by using snowball sampling. The study found that the income pattern in polygamy family was formed to some of the family's financially which is maintenance living assisted by the husband, the maintenance of the family from the income of the wife and the maintenance of the family from both that is husband and wife. However, the lack of communication regarding the rights and maintenance living between spouses can affect the marriage relationship and indirectly affect the institution's cooperative. In conclusion, there is a husband who is polygamous but does not carry out his responsibilities because they do not provide a living and do not communicate well with family members in line with the demands of Islam, especially in the Shafii sect.
