| Abstract | Circadian dynamic of zooplankton assemblages in Sucuriju river estuary (Amapá-Brazil). In the estuary of sucurijú river occurs “pororoca” phenomenon, that is one wave, or a series of waves, spreading upstream the river with a rasing of water column. Feature of zooplankton is vertical distribution in the water column. some species have daytime cycle of vertical migration, which reflects patterns of complex distribution. This research work aimed characterized the circadian variations of zooplankton in the estuary of the sucurijú river, amapá. Samples were taken in horizontal hauls, using a 120 μm-meshed plankton net coupled with flowmeter to determine the water volume filtered, and after that, samples were fixed with formalin at 4%. Some environmental parameters were measured: electrical conductivity, salinity, total dissolved oxygen and temperature. The effect of tidal movement could be noted in some abiotic parameters that were measured, those variations happen in: electrical conductivity, salinity, dissolved oxygen, total dissolved solids. Zooplankton community was represented by groups belonging to the pro mollusca (larva of gastropoda and bivalve), annelida (polychaeta) and arthropoda (copepoda, larvae of decapoda and insecta, and cirripedia). Regarding abundance, copepoda were dominant, followed by the larva of cirripedia and the other groups. the noticeable daytime variation in estuarine zooplankton mainly depends of the tides, the highest density was measured in daytime low tide (12:30 pm) previous period for passage of the “pororoca”, and lower density in daytime high tide (18:30 pm ). |
