| Abstract | Manpower management is an important question in any production system, even if, when we speak today, we associate the term with the modern factory. Yet, in any economy, ancient or modern, a production unit whether small or large, must manage its manpower efficiently. Thus all societies have organised work mechanisms. Burundian society, at the end of the 19th century, had its system for the management of manpower, which was modified when it came into contact with colonialisation. This study examines this management over both periods up the 1930's. |
