| Abstract | The Ecole des Mines d'Albi and the LAAS-CNRS initiated in 2006 a collaboration with AIRBUS Toulouse for the development of a computer-vision-based system for the inspection of aeronautics parts (fuselage parts, metallic or composite aeronautical panels, etc.) in order to detect shape defects (shape deviation with regard to the desired overall shape). The system is composed of several cameras (at least four) giving the capacity to inspect large parts. The cameras are fixed on a rigid structure and the parts to be inspected are positioned in front of the system. The inspection system works in two main stages: (1) the shape measurement (giving a cloud of 3D points) using a multiple-image DIC method and (2) the analysis of the cloud of 3D points for the detection of shape defects by comparing the measured shape with the CAD model of the part. We will present the project's state of progress and in particular the multi-camera system calibration (computation of the cameras' intrinsic parameters and the relative position/orientation of the cameras) and the 3D reconstruction using a multiple-image DIC method. |
