| Abstract | Resumo: A presente pesquisa visa explorar a dinamicidade da lingua e as formas de adequacao situacional, considerando os falares e a identidade do individuo falante, orientacao esta dada pelos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais – PCN (BRASIL, 1998, p.33). Nossa discussao esta ancorada nos estudos da sociolinguistica e ensino de linguas. Esta pesquisa e bibliografica de abordagem qualitativa, objetivando desenvolver um estudo exploratorio, a fim de propor uma reflexao teorico-metodologica, baseada nos estudos da sociolinguistica, acerca do uso da giria nas praticas de ensino e aprendizagem de lingua portuguesa. Dessa forma, elegeu-se como locus da pesquisa uma Escola Publica da regiao metropolitana de Belem para realizar a verificacao da presenca e o tratamento do codigo giria nos livros didaticos adotados no 1o ano do ensino medio, e fazer um levantamento de dados para saber quais as percepcoes de professores e alunos sobre o uso da variante giria no contexto de sala de aula. Os resultados dessa pesquisa apontam um abismo entre as orientacoes dos PCN de Lingua Portuguesa e as praticas apresentadas no contexto escolar. Acreditando que a giria, por ser relacionada aos adolescentes e jovens, pode ser um meio eficaz e que deve ser valorizada como recurso didatico para facilitar o aprendizado do aluno no ensino de Lingua Portuguesa. Abstract: This research aims to explore the dynamics of language and forms of situational adequacy, considering the dialects and the identity of the individual speaker, this guidance given by the National Curriculum Parameters - PCN (BRAZIL, 1998, p.33). Our discussion is anchored in the studies of sociolinguistics and language teaching. This bibliographic research is a qualitative approach, aiming to develop an exploratory study in order to propose a theoretical and methodological reflection, based on the sociolinguistic studies on the use of slang in teaching practices and Portuguese language learning. Thus, he was elected as a place of research a Public School Belem in the metropolitan area to perform the verification of the presence and treatment of slang code in textbooks adopted in the 1st year of high school, and make a data survey to find out what the perceptions of teachers and students on the use of slang variant in the classroom context. The results of this research show a gulf between the guidelines of Portuguese Speaking PCN and practices presented in the school context. Believing that slang for being related to teenagers and young people, can be an effective way and should be valued as a teaching resource to facilitate student learning in teaching Portuguese.
