| Abstract | The objective of this work was to analyze the performance estimation of daily values of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) obtained through the use of air temperature in the Penman Monteith method, parameterized FAO 56 Bulletin (PMFAO56_T) and of the Hargreaves & Samani method, both in relation to the PMFAO56 method, which considered all measured meteorological variables for Semiarid, Pernambucano State. A daily data series of a weather station in Semiarid Embrapa, in the Petrolina district, was used. For the comparison of the methods were calculated statistical indices of precision (correlation coefficient, r) and accuracy (concordance index, d) in order to analyze the performance through the confidence coefficient (c). In addition, were estimated statistical errors: mean bears error (MBE) and the root mean square error (RMSE). With the use of two methods of estimation of ETo, it was verified that they presented a moderate performance, recommending the Hargreaves & Samani method, in relation to the PMFAO56_T method, so it is relatively more simple and can be used with ease by rural producers.
