| Abstract | Este artigo apresenta uma visao panorâmica do conceito de justica social e suas implicacoes pratico-politicas, a partir de textos sagrados oriundos da tradicao judaico-crista. A intencao e demonstrar a forca de textos sagrados em situacoes concretas de transformacoes sociais. Pensar a elaboracao e consolidacao do conceito de justica, nessa perspectiva, pressupoe “ouvir” o que as grandes civilizacoes antigas disseram a respeito do tema, uma vez que a historia de Israel (e por consequencia, do Cristianismo) se desenrola na sombra do desdobramento dos povos do Egito e da Mesopotâmia dentre outros. O Cristianismo no decorrer de sua historia nao apenas reconheceu os textos judaicos como literatura sagrada e regra de fe e pratica como tambem incorporou esses elementos em sua propria tradicao, utilizando-os tanto em seu discurso como em sua praxis. Abstract This article presents an overview of the concept of social justice and practical-political implications, from sacred texts originating from the Judeo-Christian tradition. The intention is to demonstrate the power of sacred texts in concrete situations of social transformations. Thinking about the development and consolidation of the concept of justice in this perspective presupposes "hear" what the great ancient civilizations said on the subject, since the history of Israel (and therefore Christianity) unfolds in the shadow of the unfolding of the peoples of Egypt and Mesopotamia among others. Christianity in the course of its history not only recognized Jewish texts as literature and sacred rule of faith and practice but also incorporated these elements into their own tradition, using them both in his speech and in its praxis.
