| Abstract | The research aims to describe the implementation of interactive direct instruction technique in increasing the mastery of language function. The researcher takes the English teacher and students of the first year in SMP Muhammadiyah Purwodadi as the subject of the study. The type of research is Classroom Action Research which includes planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The methods of collecting data are interview, observation, document, and test. The result of speaking competence is very interesting, because speaking competence of students from the first cycle to third cycles always develop. It is proven by the fact that they are not shy and unconfident again. And the student can answer and make question correctly. The result of post-test is higher than pre- test. It means that implementation of interactive direct instruction technique in increasing the mastery of language function is successful and effective for the first year students of SMP Muhammadiyah Purwodadi. The suggestion is that the teacher should give an interesting topic, in order that they are not bored. The teacher should be creative in teaching English in order that the students are not shy and afraid of speaking English. The way teacher teaching English speaking should motivate and explore the student mind. The students should develop their vocabulary mastery to be successful in speaking. Finally, other researchers can use it as the reference to conduct further study. |
