| Abstract | The Municipality Rangel of Merida state has the agriculture as the most important economic activity, nevertheless, this activity responds to the conventional agricultural model, also known like green revolution. Such a model is defined as a high efficiency production system, which has the monocultures as a basic mechanism and is dependent on a high use of chemical supplies. This model was popularized through the so-called technological packages (Suquilanda, 1996), generating a high dependence on these supplies (pesticides, fertilizers and machinery). Under the logic of this model, the work in agriculture has been carried out in the paramean of Merida state for more than 40 years, initially applied to the cultivation of potatoes, carrots, vegetables, and more recently garlic. This has resulted in important loss of soil (erosion), water pollution, as well as public health problems in the population (Pino per., 2016). The production of Efficient Microorganisms is proposed as an agroecological alternative for local producers and school gardens of the Rangel municipality in order to achieve the empowerment of said tools which improve endogenous development, sustainable agriculture and the consolidation of food sovereignty. |
