| Abstract | The present study intends to treat the insertion of the constitutional text of the Efficiency Principle. This Principle has been considered one more principle that directs the Brazilian public administration from the approbation of the number 19/98’s Constitutional Amendment. This research seeks the verification whether this new constitutional prevision has been effected in the practice; as well it situates its conception in relation to the context of changes that pass the society, the State and finally the juridical system that rule the institutions, specially the public institutions. From this point, it emphasizes the participation of different mechanisms of controlling the public administration, specially those exercised by the Court of Audit, making possible the obtainment of efficiency in the public management, identifying what has already been reached, the difficulties faced and the perspectives of applying new methodologies of work directed for the consecution of the objective of elevating the quality in the services rendered by the public institutions, destined to answer social demands that has been increased. |
