| Abstract | Background: This study was done to investigate the stress affinity of test persons. Therefore the blood pressure reaction of test persons under physical and psychological stress was documented. The stress hormones adrenaline, cortisol in serum and saliva were determined. This was done to find out a profile from which it is possible to conclude a specific stress affinity. Methods and Results: Twenty five test persons out of three professions were exposed to both a psychological and a physical stress test. This was done at the same day. During the stress tests the blood pressure and the pulse were documented in regularly intervals. To determine the stress hormones three blood samples were taken: One before investigation and two during the investigation. Under psychological pressure three test persons showed an increase of their blood pressure of more than double the standard deviation of the other test persons in the same group at the same time. This blood pressure reaction was not reproducible under physical stress. The stress reaction could not be proved based on an increase of the stress hormones. Conclusion: The most sensitive parameter to determine the stress affinity was the systolic blood pressure. A profile, based on an increase of the stress hormones adrenaline, cortisol in serum and saliva that could be used in a later screening test could not be found. |
