| Abstract | Introduction: According to DSM-V’s last review, gambling disorder is seen as the only recognized behavioural addiction, constituting a growing public health problem which affects the individual and their surroundings. Scientific studies have shown that the understanding of its comorbidity and prevalence could facilitate an effective early detection. Thus, the nursing role is key when it comes to effective early diagnosis, fall preventions and rehabilitation treatment due that nursing is in continuous contact with the person, family and community. Objective: To get to know the most effective and prevalent nursing interventions directed at patients whit gambling disorder. Methodology: Review of research articles from the last five years. All of them have been found in national (Recercador UB and Cuidatge) and international (Pubmed and CINAHL) databases. Results: 20 articles which meet the inclusion criteria were found. Discussion: Firstly, through the revision of the articles, we were seen risk factors underlying problem gambling. Moreover, from a nursing point of view, scientific studies have shown the importance of early diagnosis to avoid further complications. Conclusion: All the authors agree that diagnosis as well as early interventions help to reduce negative effects on the health that this disorder causes. In order to carry out an early diagnosis, nursing should not only focus on people who are in search of a medical treatment. In addition, the interventions should be individualized and focused on the most serious nursing necessities. |
