| Abstract | There are few producers who utilized by the production of manure from feedlot beef cattle to reduce investment in fertilized their pastures or forage production. In cattle manure most of the nitrogen present is in the form of ammonia which is very volatile and therefore reduces the concentration of nitrogen. The calcium sulphate (phosphogypsum) has been studied as an additive, mixed with manure, reduces nitrogen loss and promotes other beneficial effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the benefits of phosphogypsum in feedlot cattle manure, in particular, the efficiency of reducing nitrogen losses by volatilization. The production of manure from a cattle feedlot in a typical Brazilian has an aggregate value equivalent to more than 100g of average daily weight gain in market conditions in April 2011 in Central Brazil. According to the papers presented to the addition of calcium sulfate (phosphogypsum) as an additive in cattle manure improves the authoring environment and the value of manure as fertilizer, in particular, by effectively reducing nitrogen losses occur through volatilization of ammonia. |
