| Abstract | This study aimed to evaluate the partial substitution of corn used in the supplement by glycerin gross (GB), in proportions of 0%, 6% and 12%, on the basis of dry matter (DM) on the body weight gain of cattle cutting the grass. Thirty Nellore steers aged 12 and 18 months were used, and the supplemented pasture (Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu) divided into three treatments with two replications. The animals received daily supplements of 1 kg per day and the treatments: A = supplement no crude glycerin (SGB); supplement with B = 6% crude glycerine (GB6%) and C supplement = 12% crude glycerine (GB12%). There were no significant differences in the values of average weight gain between treatments (P<0.05). The use of crude glycerin from biodiesel production through grain oilseed partially substituted corn mixture to multiple grazing cattle provided at the rate of 0.35% over average body weight, showed no significant difference in weight gain. The use of glycerine replacing corn will depend on the cost to enable its use. |
