| Abstract | A research was made in 2012 on the costs of occupational hazards (occupational and commuting accidents) and their relation to base salaries. This research was made at the Specialized Medical Unit, from the West National Medical Center (Western National Medical Center, Mexican Institute of Social Security), in Jalisco, Mexico. The research reported 156 occupational hazards (108 occupational accidents and 48 commuting accidents). The total cost of paid medical leaves of absence and the replacement of the worker who suffered the occupational hazard was 644,093.98 Mexican pesos. |
