| Abstract | Knowledge Management (KM) is structured in flexible tools and practices able to adapt to the studied environment according to the profile and available resources. If implemented, the KM can act in a complementary way to the management system of an organization allowing the improvement of its efficiency and performance. The objective of this research was to identify KM practices to be applied in the packaging area of a beverage factory, as an aid to the reduction of variable costs with packaging. The study was carried out in brewery and soda factory located in the state of Minas Gerais categorized as a large industry. The focus was on its packaging sector. Through an applied and exploratory methodology, the steps of bioliographic and documentary research and observations in the field of study for data collection were carried out, which supported the planning of a knowledge management implementation strategy. The results of the study allowed us to understand the profiles of the plant and the packaging sector, showing the organization and standardization of the processes, principles of culture, characteristics of the employees of the sector, as well as existing but not formalized KM practices. The sector studied is responsible for the management of packaging and has a direct impact on the variable industrial costs, which in turn has an influence on the bonus offered by the company to the employees of the leadership and the operation. Thus, to identify KM practices that could help reduce variable costs with packaging in the packaging sector, a Project Management Plan was structured based on projects and after developed into practices. Based on evaluations and prioritization matrices, the order of implementation of the proposed KM projects was defined and subsequently, as support to the projects, the governance structure of the KM was composed. The packaging sector presents good organization, trained employees and the potential to reduce losses through the implementation of knowledge management practices proposed by this study. |
