| Abstract | As imaginative discourse about human action, narrative does not respond exclusively to the practical interests of personal identity, nor to its more important results: the construction of the narrative unity of a life and the self-designation of a responsible subject, as it is suggested by the narrative theory of Paul Ricoeur. Under the same assumptions, narrative incorporates other interests related with the capability held by particular individuals to decenter from their specific points of view to access the plexus of relationships proper of any human community. From this perspective, the research about narrative can include the concepts of “social action”, defined as the form of human action that is oriented specifically to others, and the “world of life” as a common ground of shared knowledge where all human acts acquire meaning and legitimacy. |
