| Abstract | What is meant by “urban condition” and “urban performance,” and how can these terms – and related ones such as urban revitalization, resurgence, or distress be operationalized and measured? The lack of conceptual clarity of these terms leads to use of a wide variety of measures or indicators, many of which may be unrelated to others. Indeed, in most of the literature terms such as urban revitalization, urban resurgence, revival, renaissance, health, or even growth or their opposites (decline, distress, deprivation) seem to be used synonymously. |
