| Abstract | This manuscript is a revision of the available new technologies to perform DNA sequencing and its application in entomology studies. A historical view is presented as the currently accessible tools to study biogeography, taxonomy and evolution. In the past, important evolutive questions were limited when nonmodel organisms were involved. Previous methodologies commonly did not have protocols adapted to single individuals or species in order to be able to recover the information behind their genomes to resolver phylogenic and biogeographic topics. Other point related with these new sequencing technologies and insects is the possibility of ancient DNA recovery, as the information in scientific collections and museums. These technologies made possible to address a new informational universe that was previously inaccessible. |
