| Abstract | The Christian–Gevers theory of X-ray diffraction from hexagonal close-packed crystals with deformation stacking faults is extended to include the effect of change in layer spacing at the faults. The results show that integral breadths as well as integrated intensities remain unaffected to a first approximation. The principal effect is to introduce peak shifts, the magnitude and direction of which depend on the reflexion. |
