| Description | Journal: Physica Scripta The combined use of synchrotron and laser radiation for photoelectron spectroscopy of free atoms is described with special emphasis on the polarization of both radiation sources. By the absorption of the polarized laser radiation an atomic alignment or orientation is produced which has a strong influence on the subsequent absorption of the polarized synchrotron radiation and on the angular distribution of the photoelectrons. |
