| Description | Journal: Applied Physics Express We investigated the spin-dependent transport properties of a fully epitaxial Fe/MgO/γ-Fe2O3/Fe(001) magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) with a hybrid MgO/γ-Fe2O3 tunnel barrier, aiming at a high magnetoresistance (MR) ratio through the synergistic effect between the symmetry filtering in the MgO and the spin filtering in the ferrimagnetic γ-Fe2O3. The epitaxial γ-Fe2O3 barrier was formed by the reactive deposition of Fe in an atmosphere of atomic oxygen. The hybrid barrier MTJ exhibited an MR ratio of 270% at 20 K, which exceeded that of a conventional MgO(001)-MTJ (220% at 20 K). Even at room temperature, a relatively high MR ratio of 120% was achieved. |
