| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics Some results are presented showing the existence of cylindrical `bubble-type' domains in cobalt crystals about $10^{3}$ Å thick. The diameter of the bubbles is small, of the order of $10^{3}$ Å, and they are observed by the technique of Lorentz electron microscopy. The magnetization configurations are interpreted in terms of the magnetic contrast. To investigate the nucleation method, structures have been examined in various conditions of applied magnetic field. The dimensions and stability of the cylinders are discussed in relation to recent theories which state the necessary conditions for bubble formation. Tentative theories are put forward regarding the nucleation of the cylinders. |
